Description
What’s the difference between an unforced error and a regular error? What color should the shot clock turn inside of 10 seconds? How many players make it too many men on the ice? If you watch Monday Night Football for the animations as well as the football, please keep reading. IDS is a sports technology company on the Southside and we are looking for a high level designer with a great eye, a sharp wit and a tube of sunscreen. Yes, that’s right, our designers get to work outside some of the time at sports events. At IDS, you will have the opportunity to design, build, and deliver broadcast and event graphics for clients such as the NBA, WTA, PGA Tour, NHL, The Olympics, and numerous other sports entities around the world.
Skills Required
We are seeking qualified candidates with 3-5 years professional experience in multimedia or graphics related position. Must have proficiency in Photoshop, Flash Scripting and Animations, and After Effects…3-D experience a plus. Bonus points for audio/video and hardware skills.
Additional Skills (but not required)
Must have the innate ability to problem solve and to anticipate potential roadblocks while onsite at client events. Must be a team player, meet tight deadlines, and work well under pressure. Familiarity with broadcast graphics formats, standards, and protocols is a major plus. Do you know the pixel dimensions of 720P HDTV? Ok, you’re good.
Responsibilities
Create artwork to be visually pleasing. That’s a given. Our work also needs to be appropriate to specific sports and/or client specifications. Do you know what a DSS graphic is? Well, you’re going to learn. Designers at IDS “own” their projects, seeing them through from start to finish across multiple platforms including broadcast, realtime 3D environments, video walls, websites, and HDTV intranets. Our work, and our clients vary. On any given project, you might be asked to create diagrams, illustrations, logos, mockups and concepts for internal/external clients; work with developers on graphics needed for new software products and services. How are your technical skills? Know your XLRs from your RCAs? In the studio and at events, we frequently need to setup and breakdown video and graphics equipment and related computer hardware. On top of this, your number one responsibility is to do good work.
