Do you enjoy attending AIGA events but want to have a bigger role within AIGA Jacksonville? Have you ever thought to yourself, “I would love to see the chapter do this…” or, “I wish AIGA Jacksonville would book this speaker for an event…”, then join the AIGA Jacksonville Board and turn your voice into ACTION!
We need members of the local design community with creative ideas on how AIGA JAX can help stimulate thinking about design, demonstrate the value of design, and empower the success of designers through local events, community outreach and member communication.
If you or someone you know sounds perfect for an AIGA Jacksonville Board position, please submit their name and contact information, along with a one paragraph write-up of how you or your nominee can contribute to the 2012/2013 AIGA Jacksonville Board. You are not required to list a specific position.

We are looking to fill the following positions for the upcoming 2012/2013 year (positions start July 1, 2012):
Membership Co-Director (2 year commitment)
The Membership Co-Director is responsible for growing the AIGA Jacksonville membership by promoting the benefits of membership through regular correspondence, event promotion and member programs. This position communicates the value of joining AIGA to the membership and potential membership through focused programs that help members feel a part of the AIGA community.
Education Co-Director (2 year commitment)
The Education Co-Director will help manage connecting all AIGA student groups in Jacksonville, work toward producing meaningful programming that supports students and educators and support the Discover Design Mentoring group as needed. Programming will focus on preparing design students for the demands and standards of the profession. They will be responsible for setting up the annual portfolio review and bringing a national speaker in for the event.
Design for Good Co-Director (2 year commitment)
The Design for Good Co-Director plans and executes programs that support and encourage designers to play a catalytic role in communities through projects that create positive social impact. Design for Good recognizes the wide range of designers’ work and leadership in social change which benefits the world, our country and our communities.
Special Events Director (2 year commitment)
The Events Coordinator is responsible for planning and managing all key chapter events that do not fall into the regular yearly chapter calendar. They are in charge of managing the special events committee to ensure they are on task and on budget. This person works closely with the Programming Chair and the Executive Board in all decisions regarding scheduling, budget and upholding the mission of AIGA.
Discover Design (Mentoring) Co-Chair (2 year commitment)
The Discover Design Mentoring Co-Chair helps select the initiative for each mentoring group, plan each mentoring session, keep in constant contact with all of the mentors and mentees involved in the program and promote the program through various media outlets. They are also responsible for updating the Discover Design website, as well as the Design Ignites Change website with our mentoring group information.
Cocktails & Creatives Chair (1 year commitment)
The Cocktails and Creatives Chair is responsible for running all 12 Cocktails and Creatives events from July 2012 through June 2013. They will be available from 6 to 9 every second Thursday of every month to set up check-in at the venue, greet people who attend, socialize and introduce people to each other, bring name tags and signage, promote through website and social media. This chair is also responsible for contacting restaurants in advance to set up drink specials, discounts, etc.
Student Liaison (1 year commitment)
The Student Liaison serves as a go-between for the main Jacksonville chapter and the student groups in the surrounding Northeast Florida area. They are responsible for attending monthly board meetings, relaying information from the chapter to the ALL of the student groups in Jacksonville and getting student members more involved. They are also responsible for organizing the Design Sidekicks events in the fall and spring in which college students shadow design agencies in Jacksonville.
Committees (1 year commitment)
Committees work directly with the designated position director as a supporting role, having defined duties determined by the director and the committee member collaboratively. They will also have direct input and get training in the designated area that could lead to a full positional commitment if desired the following year.
