I Love Design is AIGA Jacksonville’s annual valentine to the creative community, inviting a specially selected speaker to engage, inform and energize the creative outlook of the attending audience. The event will be delightfully hosted, along side a catered assortment of delicious local sweets, from the second floor auditorium of the AT&T Building in the heart of Downtown Jacksonville.
WHAT WE LOVE (D)
In 1972, we could count on our favorite things being contained, mostly, in a predictable format. Forty years later, our things span formats, devices, and more. But as technology enables all sorts of possibilities for extension, are we becoming nostalgic for tangibility? Is the current return to making just a nostalgia for touchableness? Danzico talks about protecting physicality, nostalgia, and how its effects are making their way back into design from posters to music to political campaigns.
We Welcome Speaker, Liz Danzico:
Danzico is part designer, part educator, and part editor. As an independent information architecture and user experience consultant, she traces the roots of her craft back to her parents. According to Liz, “Growing up at least a little information architect in Northeastern Pennsylvania gave me an organizational advantage over my friends.”
Today, Liz spends her days in Brooklyn where she organizes information of all shapes and sizes. She is chair and co-founder of the MFA in Interaction Design program, which saw its inaugural class graduate in spring 2011 at the School of Visual Arts.
She is also an independent consultant, working with businesses to explore the relationship audiences have with their products and services through design research, information architecture, and by leading teams of experience design groups. Recent projects have included work for This American Life, MIT Technology Review, The TED Prize, and Teach for All.
Liz’s a columnist for Interactions Magazine, lectures widely, and is proud to be on the advisory boards for the Austin Center for Design and desigNYC. Past personal projects explore form and editorial in new media, ranging from A Brief Message to various collections.

AIGA Jacksonville will premier “Acquired Taste”
Before the night gets underway, we’ll premier a film short that features an intimate dinner at Daryl Bunn Studios with six experienced local art directors and principals as they discuss how their workflow, strategy and business development has evolved throughout their careers.
